Level 3 Developing a café culture through Food Technology
Course Description
Course Outline:
Heretaunga College School of Hospitality operates the school cafe which is used to train students to safely make and sell food in a real cafe business environment. The cafe regularly updates and changes its menu to keep its students engaged and its customers happy. In terms 1 and 2 you will develop and prototype a new food product with the potential to eventually be sold in the SOH cafe.
In term 3 you have the opportunity to follow complex procedures to develop and refine your own profiteroles to ensure they meet the specifications.
This course expands on the skills learned in Year 12 Food Technology.
The HOS wing will be under renovation from December 2023 till July 2024. As such the cooking room will not be available. Students will concentrate on theory work for terms 1 and 2 and have limited practical lessons in term 3.
