SCIMB202

Level 2 Marine Biology

Course Description

PURPOSE: This course is for students who enjoy practical investigations and would like to learn about Marine Biology.

COURSE OUTLINE: All standards are internally assessed achievement standards. This course is not eligible for subject endorsement.

This course has 4 internal assessments that have a focus on the Marine environment. One assessment is based on comparing a Marine Reserve with a non marine reserve, involving a couple of snorkeling trips.  Another is a pattern seeking investigation from data gathered in the field with a field trip (if the tides are with us).  Then we look at the impact of Oil Spills on a Marine Environments and to finish with how Penguins survive the extreme environment of Antarctica.

Students should NOT take SCIIS202 and SCIMB202 as there are two standards (91187 and 91190) that double up/are offered in both of these courses.
