Course Description

This is a new course for 2024. 


This course will introduce students to programming popular games, such as Roblox and Fortnite. It requires no prior knowledge / experience. In the first term the students will learn Scratch and in the second term they will learn Blockly. The intention is to eventually have enough skills to design and create games and programs for entertainment. 


Students should learn programming because it offers numerous benefits beyond coding. It enhances critical thinking and problem-solving skills by breaking down complex problems into manageable parts. Programming nurtures creativity and innovation, empowering students to solve real-world issues. 


Computational thinking helps students analyze data and recognize patterns, while learning programming provides valuable skills for future job opportunities in tech-related fields. Moreover, coding fosters collaboration, adaptability, and resilience. Ultimately, programming equips students for success in an increasingly digital world.


This course is designed to present the opportunity of programming without the threatening idea of feeling overwhelmed or unable to learn programming.
