ENGID1

Identity in Literature (1)

Course Description

Big questions:  Can stories change us? Do people’s actions matter?

It’s said there are three types of people: those who help you in difficult times, those who leave you in difficult times, and those who place you in difficult times.  In this course, we will focus on texts that explore the idea of why people do the things they do.  We will study how the actions of characters and the choices they make are integral in driving a story forward, and that the best texts have the best characters.  We will look too at the tricks and tools writers use to create memorable characters, what they teach us and why we remember what they say.
