Extreme Environments (2)

This course is a semester long and will be offered in both semester 1 and 2. 

The Big Question: How do extreme environments impact our lives?

What is is like to live in Arctic regions and stay in Antarctica or alternatively, in the hottest, driest places on earth?                                                                                                                             We will find out how people have found ways to not only survive and work in extreme conditions but also to use the natural resources and how this may impact the environment. The history and settlement of Waiouru and the Desert Road area as well as The Chatham Islands will be investigated as case studies of Aotearoa's extreme environments.                       .
