Level 3 Geography Global Connections
Course Description
Big Question: “What Is Where, Why There, and Why Care?”
PURPOSE: Level 3 Geography supports a variety of careers and university courses to do with travel, surveying, geology, earth science, social sciences, cultural studies, business, tourism, and environmental planning. In Year 13 students learn about the impact of people on the environment. Local, national and global tourism, travel, development, and environmental topics are analysed.
COURSE OUTLINE: This course is a combination of Tourism, Travel and Geography; it could easily be called Environmental Studies as it concentrates on the impacts of people’s interaction with the natural environment. We also study a contemporary issue that would impact people and the environment, such as dredging the Wellington Harbour to allow mega container ships access. Throughout the course geographic mapping, graphing, and interpretation skills are practised and improved.
