Police Pathways
Course Description
The Police Pathway Programme aims to provide students with a basic understanding of the knowledge, skills, attributes and attitudes associated with the Police and Policing in Aotearoa New Zealand. In addition to this, the course will provide an opportunity for students to explore the physical and leadership requirements required to become a Police Officer. The vision is to provide rangatahi the opportunity to become a member of New Zealand Police following the completion of Secondary School in their chosen career path or area of interest. Credits = 16 (plus optional 3 credits) Learning and teaching approaches: This course will assist students with foundational knowledge and understanding of core policing principles necessary for the role of police officer. Specific sessions will assist students to gain an understanding of theory and practical elements of topics within the course. Teaching sessions will include; • Classroom based sessions • Guest presentations • Online based activities • Practical experiences • Visits to local Police operational groups

Required Equipment
You are required to have a folder or ring binder of some sort to keep your work and notes in.
You will be given handouts, but you also require your own refill paper, pens and pencils etc.
Access to a computer, chromebook or ipad is very useful.
Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
Total Credits Available: 17 credits.
